I finally broke down and have been sending texts to my brother in Indiana (he's a trumper). Instead of sending my own thoughts and opinions of Trump, I have simply sent him the headlines of outlets I know he will believe : Yahoo Finance, WSJ, etc. (and nothing from WAPO or NYT). I finally got a response from him today. It reads simply : "I hear you!!" Progress, not perfection.

Things are so bad 20% of Trump's own voters now disagree with his handling of the economy, so there may be hope for your brother yet.---Jason

Too many of them saw that trump was whiter than Kamala. (Even though he’s orange.)

Or they had cooties. Those who voted for him for economic reasons just had to at least... perhaps subconsciously... be motivated by sexism.

I guess too many still watched the MSM to the point where they never heard about the good Biden was doing, only heard the bad, thought Biden was useless and assumed Harris would be Biden 2.0, especially after she said something to the effect of her not distancing herself from Biden.

People were also huge on fighting inflation and only the Orange bothered to bring it up with promises to tackle it while Democrats seemed unrelatable to blue colar types and focused more on social issues.

Turns out, "It's *still* the economy, stupid"... but with a mix of subconscious sexism and being sick of Biden.

The country also has a short attention span and the MSM probably didn't focus on Pumpkinhead's weirdness as much as normal. Many still saw his outrageous or weird statements as just jokes or attention grabbing.

That Project 2025 book is also huge and nobody has time to read that and Big Stupid would repeatedly deny he was in on it.

Finally, many voters stayed home, or voted third party or were suppressed. There's even rumors that a few districts may have been rigged.

So basically, our country was a mix of short memory, short attention spans, gullability (Orange weirdo is a businessman and should know how to fix the economy) boredom (VP lady too normal and normal is boring), fickleness, perfectionism ('She was draconian as a prosecutor. I'm voting for third party or staying home!'), sexism, being in a bubble (I never saw orange guy at his worst), being sick of Biden ('She's a sassy black Biden with boobs!'), unrelatability (I can't relate to this cosmopolitan gal but I relate to the simple-talking boorish guy) and general ignorance.

In a weird way, this crosis can be a good thing in disguise for our country because it's waking us up in many ways and it's making the Democrats a lot less wishy-washy and badass for once. The fight is strong and America is united! We now know "It can happen here" and we're making sure it doesn't!

Last I heard today was that he thought getting rid of our non-productive citizens was a great idea and why aren’t we doing that already? Pffft. Let’s start with him!

Non-productive….like the Texas republicans during Covid said that we as a country should sacrifice our grandparents?

Wait until they stop the Social Security payments we’ve all paid into and our elderly rely on to survive… The ridiculous rents and utilities we are all paying right now are particularly onerous to our elderly and disabled that are in fixed incomes. Not only has our minimum wage not increased in 20 years but our Cost of Living increases for Social Security income have not kept up with inflation.

I have clients that are drinking syrup for their meals at the end of the month because they can’t afford to eat and pay their rent.

You have to wonder how insane he is. Every day he wakes up (or up all night) and all he can do is think about what else he can do to astonish the world. In his mind, he thinks people think he is a genius, and everyone has to fall under his spell. The truth is he is a special kind of crazy and believes his own hype; he thinks he is handsome and young and in great shape.... It's called delusion. He sees himself as a strong leader, and the world is bowing to him. The truth is, most of the world wishes he were dead. He surrounds himself with self-serving, pathetic believers who think being close to this thing is going to give them some kind of status.. The shit will hit the fan, hold on its coming.

Trump doesn’t give a rat’s behind that his ratings are going down. Trump, Vance, Musk, Vought, Wright, Sacks, Miller, Hegseth, Bessett, Paul, Navarro, Thiel, Yarvin, etc. etc. etc. all know each other for years even decades in one form or another - from Silicon Valley, jobs, politics, The Heritage Foundation, you name it. It's a tremendous web of billionaires, MAGAs and what have you and pretty complicated. They have come together to achieve P2025 to destroy the US government and democracy and replace it with a white supremacist Christian nationalist techno-driven autocracy. One by one they have been strategically placed throughout the Trump administration.

P2025 was well thought out, thus the 180+ executive orders ready to go (I lost count). Sadly it's all over the internet for the world to see. They aren't hiding. There’s even a timeline of what they’ve accomplished (which is a lot) and what’s left to do (not much). Democrats and most people paid no real attention to it, didn’t care, or whatever. So here we are. A bit late to figure him out!

Yes in “their” plan there will be no more elections. His foolish MAGA cult voters were just a means to an end. He doesn’t need them anymore. They’ve been had.

The Senate republicans will never vote to impeach him. They already had 2 chances and didn't. Think of what could have been if they had. A convicted felon in an orange jumpsuit behind bars.

His demeanor and his dishonor of the public is very unusual. I have thought during this 2nd term the reason he has people surrounding him that are zealots are providing cover. He’s playing golf because he doesn’t care. He is already acting like he’s a king and a prime minister is doing the work

I hope his failings result in a massive resistance by those who voted for him, by getting Republican politicians afraid of losing their jobs. There should be constant drumbeats of the fpotus’s weaknesses vis a vis his unhinged revenge tactics, and his continuous mangling of words in incoherent speeches. He needs to face persistent ridicule, mockery, and derision about his plunging approval, his lower "ratings", his unpopularity, his ridiculous appearance. Make him feel small, and hit his ego. His ego is all he has. He will lash out even more, causing more sneering and contempt. Cartoons, billboards, headlines, memes, let them come at him fast and furious. He doesn't care about criticism of his disobeying laws, or his fascist acts. He does care about people's perceptions of him. He is not strong, not competent, not magnificent, not kingly. Deride him endlessly. He will crack, and be gone. Then we can concentrate on the non-cult figures that do not command so much fealty from the fpotus cult.

I used to think that the Republican led Senate and Congress back him because they’re afraid of him. Why this may be true in some respects I’m convinced now that these people are drunk on power and they’re ready to destroy everything just to keep that power. I feel like the rest of us are in quicksand and I fear it will take some very distressing events for people to wake up and recognize the very dangerous situation we’re in
