Donald Trump came back into office wanting to be a king, or as he put it, he wanted to be a dictator for a day.

Trump was wanting to act more like a ruler. He wanted to act more like a sole decision-maker. He was going to tell America what it could have, what it could not have.
If Americans didn't like high gas prices, well, tough. If Americans didn't like high grocery prices, well, tough. If you didn't like g- having your healthcare cut so billionaires could have a bigger tax cut, well, that was too bad too.
Nothing was going to change. There was nothing you could do about it, Trump said. In fact, Trump went out of his way to show the American people over and over again that he did not care. He didn't care about them. He didn't care about anything of the, the American people were concerned with.
He didn't care that people did not have heating oil. He didn't care that people were gonna freeze this winter. He didn't care that people couldn't afford groceries or to put gas in the car, or that their jobs are hanging on by a thread.
Trump's main campaign pitch was, "I'll give you $5,000 if you vote for Republicans," but you really can't buy anything with $5,000, at least in my world. So enjoy the pocket change, peasants.
The thing is, the American people aren't peasants.
In the United States, the American people hold the power, and they hold the power through the ballot box. And what we are seeing tonight is an unprecedented pushback by the American people. The American people standing up for their country, for their democracy, for their rights.
The American people said, "We will not live without food. We will not live without affordable healthcare. We will not live with expensive gasoline that we can't afford. We don't wanna live with measles. We don't want disease."
That's the message being sent. That's the whole message, and that's why independents in such large numbers joined with Democrats to vote out anyone viewed as a Trump enabler, anyone viewed as a Trump supporter.
The midterm election result wasn’t only a change in political power.
The results of the election were intended to send a message that the American people and their needs will not be ignored.
Any presidents who makes the choice to ignore the people will pay the price.
No president has ignored the people in the way that Trump has, and no president has paid the price that Trump has.
Trump will still occupy the office, but his presidency is effectively over because the American people came together and said no more.
