The End Of The Trump Era Is Here

The election could mark the beginning of the end of the Trump era, but the fight for democracy, and the work to build something better is just beginning.

While the media is focused on the winning and losing of the election, fundamentally, elections are about democracy, and the 2026 midterm election is about reasserting democracy and checking a president who is trying to weaken the backbone of the nation’s system of goverance.

As Sarah Jones said:

We are 61 days until Trump loses control of the House and possibly the Senate. So there's a lot to look forward to in terms of that. But the battle that we are fighting to get our democracy back is a much longer battle, and we have a lot more to look forward to in terms of how we want to reshape this country, not just to fix the things that Trump broke, but to make this country better than it was before Trump, stronger and more responsive to the people.

After a decade plus of Trump, this election is the first step on the path toward reshaping te direction of the nation after Trump.

That work starts soon as Trump denies these election results:

We know what's gonna happen even after this battle of winning midterms happens. Then we know that Trump is going to be like an injured animal, and he's going to lash out, and he's not gonna accept the results.

And so the fight goes on and on, but it's the people who stay in that fight that are really gonna turn this country around and m- make it something so that the next generation can have some of the things. I think about this a lot. PBS the shows that we watched as kids on PBS, the younger generation isn't gonna have all those things. And I want a country that has healthy libraries, and all books are available to everyone. So these are the things that we're building, and it's gonna take time Yeah, it's not gonna be rebuilt in a day.

I think some of the things, some of the superficial things can be rebuilt rather quickly. Literally, the physical projects he's destroying can be rebuilt. Those are the easy parts. The hard part is restoring faith in in our system. But, and part of that is too, like I, I keep talking about this, but I don't think we ne- I think people, when they think about, "Oh, we gotta rebuild this stuff," but it's like we, let's not rebuild what he broke. Let's make new things. Let's make it better. Let's make it more responsive to the people.

Winning the election was step one.

The next phase of the work begins in January 2027.

The American people have a nation to rebuild.
