I will believe Abbott can be ousted by his own voters when I see the picketing and protesting this monster deserves. For too long now he has been getting re-elected not because he's a great leader but because they are too ashamed to vote against a man in a wheel chair. This man in a wheel chair does not deserve his sympathy. He deserves their strongest ire.

I agree. In an unrigged world, Beto would have been governor many times.

Abbot needs to concentrate on the governance of Texas, with that $80 billion rainy day fund, he failed to

use to protect the Hill Country in Central Texas with early warning sirens. The governor is so willing to control Washington through manipulation and servitude to his King and hand over Texas on a silver platter‼️

The state GOP here in Austin are more interested in passing open-carry legislation and arming Texas residents to the teeth than passing laws to protect our school-age boys and girls.

It’s the only piece of the Constitution Trump carries on his personal, the Second Amendment. The NRA pays Trump well.

Just another clear example of folks like Abbott seeking power, but not the responsibility that comes with power and leadership

Oooooo “pointed questions”…. That’ll really make a douchebag like Ironsides Abbott think twice…. Such weak and spineless leadership.

Not pointed questions, but pointed to questions. You missed a word there, and it changes the meaning. Jeffries mentioned the questions being raised in Texas about Abbott's leadership, but the real point is about the gerrymandering.---Jason

Thanks Jason! My “point” was that posing questions to Ironsides Abbott is hardly the definition of “ripping” him… Jeffries is too weak.

I apologize, but I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Who's weak and spineless?

No outside video allowed in links. That we found out is a Substack policy that is considered spam. Technically, all external links in comments are considered spam. We get it. You don't like Jeffries. That's ok, but the gerrymandering in Texas needs to be fought against, and Jeffries will be one of the parties in the inevitable lawsuits that are going to follow.---Jason

And what happens when the lawsuits reach the Supreme Court? Do you really think they will rule against Trump?

There is more to this story! Spanish cruz stopped the appointed time to vote to add a paragraph to the BBBill...Cruz ensured a reduction in funding to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) efforts to improve future weather forecasting of events that cause the sort of extreme floods that are being worsened by climate crisis.

Cruz inserted language into the MAGA’ “big beautiful” reconciliation bill, THAT ELIMINATES A $150 MILLION FUND TO “ACCELERATE ADVANCES AND IMPROVEMENTS IN RESEARCH, OBSERVATION SYSTEMS, MODELING,FORECASTING, ASSESSMENTS, AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC” AROUND WEATHER FORECASTING.

A further $50MILLION in NOAA grants to study climate-related impacts on oceans, weather systems and coastal ecosystems WAS ALSO REMOVED.

How the hell do you end a program and have it "accelerate advances and improvement in research" this is how F dumb cruz is....and not one of the morons caught it..He canceled NOAA and FEMA in one F paragraph...

Texas keeps voting for these scum, they are getting what they wanted..

They want to keep it up with MAGAts, expect a lot of deaths...they haven't begun until next year...17 million off Medicaid and almost 1 Million in Texas. Your going to loose everyones f grandparents and then when women can have kids because more than 60% are delivered through Medicaid and the death from bleed out of miscarriages. OH Yeah, Texas is on the oranges shot kill list!

Whenever I think of "Hot wheels" Abbott, I think how much fun it would be to restage the "wheelchair scene" in Richard Widmark's "Kiss of Death." We'll do it on the Telegraph Hill stairs in San Francisco. I'll play Tommy Udo and "Hot Wheels" can play the person in the wheel chair. We'll even strap him in good and tight so he makes it all the way down.

Texas always manages to make me embarrassed I was born there.

Bruce Jordan's avatar

Indeed, it will be difficult. The biggest problem here in Texas, like most red states, are the rural parts of the state. These are the mostly uneducated Fox viewers. They are rabid Trump voters. You can drive through miles and miles of country roads and see Trump or Cruz signs everywhere. To make inroads here to begin turning this state at least partially Blue will mean large turnout of Democratic voters in the city and suburbs.

It's something ain't it? Better than nothin' which is what Dem leadership did while DOGE went on a rampage to disrupt and destroy government infrastructure. Better than doing virtually nothing to stop the passage of the Big Ugly Bill. It's past time for Democratic leaders to fight every step of the way with every imaginative outside the box tactic they can think of. We are inches away from totalitarian government taking over permanently.

At least it's something.
