Trump Brags about Being a National Security Threat

Trump knows he’s not supposed to be “seduced” that way, but he admits that he is. He’s an easy target for a certain kind of male leader.

“We’re not supposed to be seduced that way, right? But I am. When somebody’s nice to me, I love that person,” Trump said in video shared by NBC News’ Sahil Kapur late Wednesday evening. “Even if they’re bad people. I couldn’t care less, I’ll fight to the end for them.”

Trump knows he’s not supposed to be “seduced” that way, but he admits that he is. He’s an easy target for a certain kind of male leader.

While people are focusing on the perceived psychological diagnosis Trump is seemingly bragging about, the more troubling issue for this country is the threat his personality issues pose to our national security.

Dave Vorland, an Obama and Biden appointee as acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space and Missile Defense Policy, pointed out, “Pretty sure that answer would have cost me my security clearance.”

That is because Trump’s comment is a confession that he is deeply susceptible to coercion and manipulation by wily leaders like, say, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Both of whom are enemies of democracy.

Moscow has reportedly been sharing information with Iran including our troop location and allegedly performing simulations of attacks on our forces even as his buddy Trump is at war with Iran.

The EU has limited the flow of confidential material to Hungary after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk “warned of long-standing suspicions Viktor Orbán’s government is sharing information with Russia.”

Of note here, Trump has bragged about Orbán liking him in the past, and Orbán is a prominent figure in American conservative Republican politics, giving speeches at CPAC that have been called the modern playbook to modern authoritarianism. At CPAC, he has been presented as a model to copy for how to secure and consolidate power. He’s nice to Trump so Trump likes him.

America First is in reality Trump First, America Last.
