There has been a disconnect growing over the last couple of years between Trump and some of his most hardcore supporters. Trump’s supporters believe that MAGA is a movement that should be focused on putting the American people first.
Trump thinks that MAGA is about putting himself first.
Donald Trump has been up against a ticking clock since he came back to the White House. If Trump is MAGA as he claims, MAGA is living on borrowed time, because Trump’s relevance could be over as soon as the 2026 midterm election results are announced.
To understand how bad this week was for MAGA consider that it featured Republicans defying Trump and making their president attempt to save face by changing his position on the Epstein files.
The week included Trump sabotaging the entire Republican strategy for 2026 by getting chummy with Mamadani in the White House, and it ended with one of Trump’s most passionate supporters walking away from Congress because she didn’t want to win a primary and then serve in the minority in the House.
