They take effect too far in the future to be helpful in exterminating MAGAts.

Hmmm. Maybe. But one rural hospital has already closed. These hospitals must budget and plan for the future.

I’d expect many more to close next year.

In addition, Planned parenthood here in Cleveland has announced its closing.

That, too, is going to hurt the MAGAs on Medicaid.

Trump and his minions will tell those who have lost their health insurance and whose rural hospitals have closed that it is fake news and it is Bidens fault. Right. In the same sentence he will say it didn't happen but if it did it was not his fault it was Biden's. And they will believe it and once again vote as they have since Reagan against their own interests.

Have you read the bill and noticed how many of these cuts were backdated? Don’t let the thought of “we have three years to worry about this” lull you into thinking that we have a reprieve; we don’t! We must continue to exercise our right to free speech (as long as we do) and voice our disapproval of what the Republicans have done. We have to speak truth to power not in 2028, but now.

Can any of this travesty be undone by a Senate/House majority taking office in 2027?

I was also wondering about this so I turned to my trusty AI for an answer and this is what it said in a nutshell. If you have an AI app you might want to check what it says. This one is from Copilot.

Some of it can be undone—but not all, and not easily.

If a new majority takes office in 2027, they can repeal or rewrite parts of the Big Beautiful Bill. That includes subsidies, tax structures, or definitions that were passed into law. But anything that’s already been triggered—like 10-year tax credits for projects that “started” before June 2026—would be harder to reverse without running into legal challenges from investors or industry groups.

Also, Treasury regulations can play a role. A new administration in 2029 could tighten how those benefits are interpreted and applied, potentially slowing the flow of funding even without passing new laws.

So: yes, a future Congress and administration could chip away at it—but untangling the whole thing will take time, coordination, and political will.

What do you mean they are backdated? I know the major portion of the cuts aren’t scheduled to go into effect until about Jan 2027 after people have already voted in the 2026 midterms.

Saying backdated implies something other than that.

🏛️ What You Need to Know About Retroactive Medicaid Cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill

The BBB quietly includes provisions that apply retroactively to January 1, 2025—months before the bill’s passage. These include:

- Medicaid eligibility changes: Work requirements and asset tests now apply retroactively, threatening coverage for individuals who qualified earlier this year.

- Funding penalties for states: States may be financially penalized for failing to comply with rules they didn’t yet know existed when they set their budgets.

- Verification deadlines moved up: A Senate amendment advanced mandatory income and identity checks from 2028 to January 1, 2027, further compressing preparation time.

Why it matters: This kind of backdating is rare and controversial. It risks:

- Due process violations for patients,

- Legal and budget chaos for states,

- And represents what policy analysts have called a “legislative sleight of hand”—shifting burdens onto the most vulnerable while smoothing deficit projections.

You use the best adjective “sneaky’. That’s what this regime is all about. I’d like to use it to apply to the Republican Party as well. Even if they claim ignorance that doesn’t absolve them from sneaking these horrible things into the bill. They didn’t want us to know about the changes hidden in all those pages of the Big Betrayal Bill. They once again threw sand in our eyes. Is this the way we want to be governed?

The Republikkkans are total snakes. They made sure the cuts won't take effect until after the midterms, but we must keep this front and center for the next 3 years. Non-stop talking about what this BS, POS bill is and what it will do to the entire country. It's Welfare for Billionaires. It's Waste, Fraud, and Abuse on steroids. We must hold the media accountable every day.

Why the fuck does Christianity matter? Most of the idiots who pushed for this or voted red in November call themselves Christians. What about just being a decent, fucking human being?
