Republicans consistently fail at law enforcement, but Democrats have bought into the political mythology of GOP law and order, and place Republicans in law enforcement positions of power.
The idea that Republicans are the party of law and order is a decades-old myth that has become rooted in American political culture. The idea of a Republican running a law-and-order presidency goes back to Richard Nixon, Roger Ailes, and the 1968 presidential campaign.
Republicans have been running on the myth that they are the law and order party for so long, and it has become so entrenched in the national political psyche that even a nearly three-decade-long convicted felon like Donald Trump can run on the idea that he is a law and order president, and many Americans believe him.
Even Democrats have bought into the idea that Republicans need to be a presence in law enforcement within their administrations.
Donald Trump’s law enforcement failures are merging as the president is sending ICE into airports, because he and his party refuse to fund TSA, which has caused a security worker shortage at the nation’s airports.
On Chew’s Views, Sarah Jones spoke about the GOP’s consistent failure at law enforcement:
Just to go back to the Epstein files for a moment and. You know, one of the things there, there’s now this new look and new investigation into Epstein’s alleged suicide, which is looking less and less like a suicide now.
Given the new evidence that’s come forward and or that’s been uncovered, I should say. So there’s something in there that concerned me because, sure, the Trump administration, when they were in power, they were like, oh no, everything is fine here. Close the book.
But then also Garland did the same thing when it was brought up again under Biden and I saw people online saying, oh, you know, they’re seeing both parties are the same. And I was over here going, but you know, Garland is a Republican.
