Pete would be a great president. Very smart, articulate, gracious, clear sighted, organized, strong, diplomatic. Perfect candidate.

Pete is right, but it’s more than that. This is deliberate. Trump and MAGA are not only gaslighting all of us, they’re are still using “they” as though this assassination was a vast left-wing conspiracy; and worse, they are now lionizing and memorializing Kirk as a US hero. Military carrying his casket on Air Force Two with Vance. He’s getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom in a separate ceremony that will build on this man’s legacy.

Moreover, this should scare us the most. The more they treat him like MLK Jr., the more our youth will be curious and look him up on social media.

And therein lies the rub; all the social media platforms are operated by MAGA. They will magnify his and many other right-wing influencers who will tell the world that radical lefties were responsible. They will show misleading clips of him as this uniter and free speech warrior.

And this is occurring at a time when all other voices are being silenced. People are being fired, and everyone else is either cowering in fear, or self censoring.

Bottom line: The real dangers are just beginning. And it’s not just here, these messages are being spread throughout Europe which already has its issues with their far-right that is growing and multiplying daily. Not to mention, throughout the Americas as well. IMHO…:)

You are quite on point. I have been watching this snow ball since we were first notified that Kirk had been shot. The violently hateful response from Trump and the right wing has been, in my opinion, horrific. It seems that the Republicans want to make Kirk their poster boy and use this tragedy to continue their demonization of Democrats and liberals.

Trump needs to go by horse, hearse, bus, train, plane, or limo. Get him the fuck out of the White House, before it's too late.

I also believe that Pete Buttigieg would make a great president. He is very intelligent. He speaks clearly and extremely well with no evasiveness or veering off on other subjects. When he speaks, everyone can understand him. He is straight to the point. I like that a lot! It is time for younger people to take over the positions of leadership in this country.

Your analysis of Pete Buttigieg’s response to FOTUS’ handling of the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk shooting underscores a critical point in American political leadership today. Buttigieg’s call for clarity, reason, and bipartisan leadership contrasts sharply with the regime’s tendency to frame events through a partisan lens, as you noted. I just read a post where FOTUS said smart people don’t like him. We also don’t like what he is doing to our democracy.

Buttigieg’s statement that "we need to have free and open political debate and a healthy political process in this country" gets to the heart of what many Americans believe is missing from current leadership. The willingness to exploit incidents of violence for political gain, rather than seeking to unite the country, not only deepens divisions but also undermines democratic norms.

Your argument that leadership should rise above partisanship, especially in moments of national crisis, resonates strongly. The presidency demands a figure who can look beyond political advantage and embody the values of unity and inclusivity. Buttigieg’s remarks reflect a clear understanding of this responsibility, something that, as you pointed out, has been noticeably absent under the current regime’s approach.

In highlighting Buttigieg’s critique, you’ve captured a growing sentiment among those who are searching for a return to principled and bipartisan leadership. The call to reject both political violence and the exploitation thereof is both timely and necessary. Restoring true leadership to the presidency, as you suggest, means moving beyond the politics of division and toward a vision that serves all Americans.

Would someone who didn't have children be mourned less? It would seem so, the emphasis on "especially has children" makes this distinction. Being without children, Mr. Buttigieg, I'm offended by the wording of your statement.

He is not saying that any person who is murdered should be mourned more or less. I believe that he meant that the tragedy is more horrific because he left behind not only a spouse, but a three year old daughter and one year old son. Those children will not remember their father. Sure, they will see pictures and videos. But they are too young to remember his spending actual time with them. Note that he did not mention how tragic that he was married and had a wife. His wife will remember the good times that they shared, both before marrying and after. It is the children who will have no memories of him.

Pete Buttigieg is indeed a charismatic and well spoken politician. I cannot support him as a presidential candidate, however, because he has fudged on the Palestinian genocide. He also has nothing to say about Zohran Mamdani, and seems to stand with establishment Democrats, who have brought us to this sorry place.

Delusional don is not going anywhere. They will never impeach him and he has remarkable resilience for an old fat man who does nothing more strenuous than walk, Pete is right but it hardly matters. The Kirk assassination is going to change things and the right will dig in harder on their effort to control the next election. This country is in deep deep trouble and scolding delusional don is an honest but empty gesture. Start thinking about how this is going to work out over time if you dare.

Delusional don has already done something by directing states to further gerrymander their seats. I think we are up to six new seats so far. They are also doing plenty of other questionable things behind the curtain. Trump has control of the right and everyone is a coward who will do what he wants, say what he wants and cave when he wants.
