I’ve liked Josh Shapiro since I first heard him speak before he was governor. I like the idea of him as President of this great country; just what we need!

I have a good feeling about Josh Shapiro for 2028.

I have what is probably a minority opinion. I would like to see Corey Booker be the 2028 Democratic nominee, and possibly AOC as his VP. I have no quarrel, however, with

Josh Shapiro as our candidate, although I heard tell that Kamala did not pick him as her running mate because she thought he was too ambitious--whatever that means. I think AOC would be a good running mate for him too--or Jasmine Crockett.

I suspected what she meant is that she thought he had aspirations then to run against her to be president in the future??

I don't believe that was the reason. She was looking for non-controversial. She was already controversial as a Black/Asian woman. Shapiro was a Jewish man. She wanted middle of the road.

I don't think the Palestinians in Michigan, that sat out last time, or believed Drumpf's rhetoric would vote for Shapiro. Also if we, Dems, want the Black vote, it can't be 2 white people on the ticket.

It is probably going to be two white people on the ticket, judging by how badly Democrats want to win and the general terror many seem to feel about losing again. I tend to agree with you that Democrats are a diverse party and that diversity should be represented, and maybe things will shake out differently before we get to 2027/2028.---Jason

Give Black voters a little more credit! They know as well as everyone else that we are in an era of terrible governance, and they will vote for someone who promises good governance, of any race.

Gee, evidently you didn't pay attention to how Black people felt in 2016 ,2020! It's true that Black people will vote for a white president but they definitely wanted representation on the ticket! And that is only Fair!

You all need to understand that when push comes to shove Jewish folks' status as "white" is tenuous- only when it is convenient otherwise they are sui generis- Jews, (religious or not) in this country as they are around the world. If Shapiro and another standard white christian is on the ticket it will not be two whites but a Jew and a white person. This is just America's reality.

Just had lunch with a guy who is a registered Republican, but doesn't like Trump. But he bemoaned that "there's no emerging leadership in the 'Democrat' party."

I told him he was full of it. Sort of cordially. Maybe not.

Registered republican that doesn’t like trump? He’s gonna wake up in prison in El Salvador one morning.

Maybe minus a kidney too. Who knows with these thugs?

Does Pete Buttigieg not have a chance in hell? He is so bright, speaks 5 languages fluently and learned as Secretary of Transportation how difficult it is to get things done because of conflicting regulations. I would suppose he would make an effort to make it easier to get things done in the White House. He is nice looking, can defuse arguments easily, an excellent speaker and has a nice family.

Democrats currently have a 28% approval rating. Jesus Christ could not win with that number. If they don't get down with the situation and stop bringing a toothbrush to a knife fight Josh will be just another Kamala. The right is ascendent and the left is watching the deconstruction of our systems on tv. Or maybe not watching which is how Hitler won the day.

I think a good portion of those who have a negative opinion of the Democratic Party think they aren’t pushing back against trump and republicans enough.

Yes, and I like many of the other possible candidates. The Democrats need to hire someone to come in and reorganize and re-generate the party with a comprehensive and positive mission for America.

The trouble with Josh Shapiro is that he is too pro Israel and has no sympathy with Palestinians.

Whoever is the candidate needs a popular platform and a concise plan for where to take the country after the Trump nightmare is over. The old ways are over. We need a new direction and a charismatic leader.

I like Josh ... known him since his days in the PA House. BUT ... as a clarification, former VP Al Gore was a member of the US Senate from 1985 to 1993 when he was elected VP. He was never a governor in Tennessee or any other state. Your premise is interesting, but incorrect.

He’s my Gov and I’m so grateful for it. He’s a bit of a nerd about PA (in a good way) - like doing tastykake tastings with chef Michael Solomonov and doing RV roadtrips with his fam to promote our state parks. If he does decide to run I think he’d make an amazing candidate cause he’s super smart and savvy and he’d make an amazing prez cause I believe he actually cares. I hope everyone gives him a chance if he does.

Could we stop talking about out 2028 and focus on 2026 midterms, 2028 won’t matter if we don’t take back the house and stop trump now. It’s a distraction to democrats and independents and they need to get charged up for 2026 and keep up the pressure on congress to do something now.

I think Josh Shapiro is too careful a politician--he reminds me of Bill Clinton in that he speaks well and excites people but I worry that he would not really offer a bold agenda to truly help people but a watered-down agenda--a la Barack Obama which gave us Donald Trump. I am Jewish, but I don't think this is the best time to elect a Jewish person that is close to Israel either depending on how the Middle East situation develops.

Josh Shapiro is fine if the Democrats want Republican Lite for its party. And they might, embracing winning over principle. This happened before with the Clintons

and we know how that turned out--triangulation, repeal of Glass-Steagal, non-action in Rwanda,

.com bubble, Lewinsky et al, etc, etc, etc.

In addition Shapiro has been an unabashed cheer leader for the Israeli ethnic cleansing/genocide in Gaza. How to lose the Progressive Left. Ask Biden/Harris about that.
