Last night we finally broke up with Donald J Trump as the People roared back to life, taking back their power from an autocrat and his enabling party of toadies. But it’s also bigger than Trump.

It was a resounding rejection of a man who has imposed his toxic personality on the country for ten plus years and of the party that enabled him to violate rules, abuse the American people, and attack the Constitution.
This is the end of Donald Trump’s dominance of American politics, just as we wrote and discussed it would be yesterday. The Daily with Sarah Jones suggested yesterday that this was the end of the Trump era and the beginning of a whole new political landscape, and the midterm results agree.
This was at least as severe a repudiation as 2006 was to George W. Bush, but I’d argue it’s worse. After all, Democrats turned Texas blue last night and Republicans are fighting for their life in Mississippi.
Last night was Wreckage for MAGA. A brutal bloodbath. The blue Wave didn’t stop at double digit Trump districts being taken by Democrats. Democrats also mounted a spectacular rally taking power in Congress and governors' mansions across America.
State legislatures turned blue, including in Georgia, Minnesota (DFL), and Pennsylvania. This importantly creates a safety mechanism for the 2028 presidential elections lest a certain Red Hat try to incite a January 6th domestic terrorist attack again, this time hiding out in his taxpayer-funded bunker.
But who around Trump will keep his secrets now, knowing Democrats have the power of the subpoena in the US House, and they — unlike Trump — do not have immunity?
Getting a taste of how angry the American actually people are has burst through the elite bubble of collaborators and colluders, and we can just imagine the scramble behind the scenes for many Trump allies and aides.
