This Labor Day is more than a barbecue, they say. It's a chance to raise your voice and be heard as part of the unified resistance to billionaires taking over the U.S.A.

‘Workers Over Billionaires’ say they have over 1,000 events planned across the United States of America on Labor Day this year, making 2025 a very important year for the unification of workers against the billionaires who are taking over our country.
“Workers over billionaires now!”
2025’s Labor Day will be about celebrations with an emphasis on the need for change and unification against the billionaires, in order to continue to build on the momentum of other large demonstrations against President Donald Trump and his coterie of billionaires ruining the country.
The Workers Labor Day site describes how they see this Labor Day as taking back our country for working people:
At marches and rallies, picnics and parades, Workers' Labor Day is a celebration of working people. And it’s a celebration of the power we have when we come together in a union—the power to take back our country for working people, not billionaires.
Workers deserve the freedom, fairness and security that comes with a union.
In the streets and on the shop floor, in union halls and the halls of Congress, working people are rising up, speaking out and fighting for an economy, a government and a country for the people—not the billionaires.
Join America’s labor unions and working people across the nation during our Workers' Labor Day week of action as we take back OUR day and show the big corporations who we are and how we fight. Find an event near you.
Ultimately, unions are about giving the people a fighting chance in negotiations for fairness and safety with the very powerful and legally protected corporations run by elite, wealthy people who have a much bigger say in policy and law than workers do.
Unions can offer incredible protections to make our lives better and easier, too, including healthcare insurance that covers nearly everything and is almost hassle-free. Or at least, that’s how it used to be before unions were systemically undermined and attacked by politicians catering to special interests over the people.
What has been destroyed can be rebuilt, even better.
To those who say protests don’t work, I’d ask what measurement they’re using.
The point of protests is not only to show dissent, but to remind others that they are not alone in their pain, anger and fear as they watch this president destroy the purported values upon which this country was founded. It helps foster community, while also sending a loud message that We the People do not consent.
Protests are powerful, and peaceful protests are impossible to ignore. We need only look at the polling for Trump’s ICE raids to see how impactful protests can be. In fact, Trump’s immigration raids “may be backfiring in California, even among Republicans and independents who otherwise support tougher border security,” according to a new poll from Politico published on August 22.
In another poll by Hart Research Associates for the National Immigration Law Center showed that Trump’s ICE raids have caused people to change their minds about immigration. “More broadly, Americans increasingly believe that undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay legally in the U.S. The Trump administration’s pursuit of mass deportation appears to be generating a public backlash, resulting in greater support for creating paths to legal status. Now, two in three voters (68 percent) say there should be a way for undocumented immigrants to stay in the country legally if certain requirements are met.”
The protests raised awareness of the horrifying and immoral raids ripping apart families of non-criminal, working immigrants who have been kidnapped off of the streets without due process, often by masked people who claim to be working for the federal government.
The protests scheduled around the country on Monday are the result organizations like AFL-CIO, the National Education Association, May Day Strong, 50501, No Kings, the American Federation of Teachers, MoveOn, Public Citizen, and the Working Families Party.

Union Strong 💪 for a better life! Happy Labor Day
I love that there are so many protests and if I were able to walk without help, I’d join them myself. I’ll be contributing in some other way.
