The Voting Ripple Effect

Which party will control all or part of Congress still has not been determined. It could be days or weeks before the American people know the fate of the Legislative Branch of the federal government, but a consequence of the record Democratic turnout in the midterm election is that state governments have also been impacted.

The state government impacts our daily lives more than the federal government, and local government has even more direct contact with citizens than the state and federal governments, but rarely do voters head to the polls with the thought in mind, today I am going to change my state legislature, but in 2022, that is exactly what happened.

In Michigan, Democrats gained control of the state legislature for the first time in 40 years. In Pennsylvania, the state House will be Democratic for the first time since 2010.
