Trump's 'Remarkable Failure' as Jury Refuses to Indict Ham Sandwich Guy
Trump's humiliation over his invasion of DC with federal troops continues as a jury rebuked prosecutors for trying to indict ham sandwich throwing guy.

The jury said no thanks to indicting ham sandwich throwing guy in DC. You know, the guy Trump thinks is a violent criminal because he tossed a ham sandwich at border patrol officers who were invading his city for no justifiable reason.
Sadly for the Trump administration’s efforts to paint DC as a crime-ridden city on the edge of mutiny, the grand jury did not return an indictment on a federal felony charge against a former Justice Department employee who was seen on camera on August 10th throwing a ham sandwich at the arm of a federal officer deployed by Trump.
It looks like the wrapped sandwich bounced off the officer’s arm (although other outlets say it was his chest, that’s not what I see from this angle) and onto the ground, so it’s not even like he got sprayed with mustard.
It’s still wrapped as it falls to the ground:
Here’s “the deli weapon” sandwich documented on the ground, wrapped.
The jury’s refusal to indict is seen as pushback by the citizens of DC, according to Ryan Reilly writing for NBC News.
“The grand jury’s decision not to indict Sean Dunn is another sign of pushback from Washington, D.C., residents over Trump's deployment of the National Guard and other federal law enforcement agencies in the city, who have put a particular focus on immigration enforcement.”
The New York Times also sees it as a rebuke and remarkable failure, “The grand jury’s rejection of the felony charge was a remarkable failure by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington and the second time in recent days that a majority of grand jurors refused to vote to indict a person accused of felony assault on a federal agent. It also amounted to a sharp rebuke by a panel of ordinary citizens against the prosecutors assigned to bring charges against people arrested after President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops and federal agents to fight crime and patrol the city’s streets.”
They say it was “particularly noteworthy given the attention paid to the case of the man who threw the sandwich, Sean C. Dunn. Video of the episode went viral on social media, senior officials talked about the case, and the administration posted footage of a large group of heavily armed law enforcement officers going to Mr. Dunn’s apartment.”
Imagine what ham sandwich guy was seeing that made him want to throw away a presumably decent ham sandwich just to be heard, as he is “accused” of calling them “fascists” before throwing the sandwich and shouting, “I don’t want you in my city!”
Well, he has been heard, thanks to Trump’s insatiable hunger for creating division and distraction from his refusal to share the Epstein files.
Donald Trump’s hysteria over American citizens throwing a sandwich should be remembered, because this is how unreliable he and his entire administration are about their claims of “violent crime.”
Violent crime is like what Donald Trump was found liable of doing to E. Jean Carroll in that dressing room.
Violent crime is not seeing an entire line of federal troops deployed against your city for no justifiable reason and getting really angry about it and so you throw a wrapped sandwich that bounces off of someone’s arm and goes to the ground. This isn’t exactly the same situation as if two individuals were in a fight and someone threw a wrapped sandwich, but even then, unless the person was throwing the sandwich after other egregious violations, they wouldn’t be charged with a federal felony.
Conservatives really ought to understand this, as they are the ones who have been arming themselves for war for decades over their fear that the federal government would do something like what Trump is doing. Conservatives should be on the side of the citizens objecting to the violation of their rights and the attempted intimidation by a weak president.
But because conservatives see the “cities” as deserving of this for not voting for Donald Trump, they are complicit and even shamelessly cheering it on as one might expect folks who are supporting the communist buy in to Intel to do after decades of fearmongering about communism.
So here we are. Another failure for Trump’s strongman image. And the troops are now doing the very expensive job of collecting garbage in DC. Maybe sandwich guy will face a misdemeanor now, and fair enough, but Trump’s whiny histrionics about Americans who don’t like what he’s doing is absolutely unbecoming a “president”.
