This was not the way the American system of governance was designed, but it is what Donald Trump wishes that it could be because only then could he have the unlimited power that he seeks.
Trump and his party are about to be handed an election defeat in a matter of weeks that could be historic in its size and scope. When Trump is faced with any defeat that shatters his self-delusion that he is a “winner,” the president gets desperate, as if his mind can’t handle any breach of his delusion bubble by reality.
