But underneath Trump’s endless power grabs, there are signs that his power is slipping
.“When you talk about Trump’s power slipping on Capitol Hill, you’re right to point out the ways that he’s not getting what he wants simply because he says he wants it,” MS NOW Senior Capitol Hill Reporter Ali Vitali said Thursday morning, pointing to the canceled vote on Todd Blanche’s confirmation, the Save America Act, and the timing of the budget resolution.
“But we’ve yet to see this body actually stick it to him,” Vitali continued. “And so this is actually one of the first tests of if they are willing to do that, or if they are just trying to exact a pound of policy or legislative flesh before ultimately getting in line.”
Trump, again displaying his THUG POWER OVER approach to “deal making”, accused Cornyn of tanking the confirmation because Trump primaried him, “Maybe John Cornyn's upset with me because I didn't endorse him.”
Cornyn defended himself from Trump attacks after he stalled the confirmation of Trump’s personal criminal defense attorney Todd Blanche, pointing out that he voted with Trump “99.3% of the time.”
“This is about making sure that even if you’re the president of the United States, you don’t get favorable terms from the government in a settlement of a lawsuit that ordinary citizens would not get, like protection from audits by the IRS into the into the foreseeable future,” Cornyn told Vitali.
