Trump's Iowa Speech Backfires As Republican Warns Of Trump Impeachment
Trump was supposed to be giving a speech in Iowa on the economy, but Rep. Zach Nunn tried to rally the troops by warning that Republicans will lose the majority and Trump will be impeached.
Midterm elections are tough for presidents. If a president inherited a bad situation, it is unlikely to have improved in less than two years. If things are going great in the country, but voters want change, and the president’s party controls Congress, they take it out on the incumbent majority.
There is a reason why only 3 presidents in the last 30 years have seen their parties beat expectations in the midterms. It happened for Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Joe Biden. Otherwise, incumbent presidents usually take a loss in the midterm.
Trump is in a unique situation because he inherited an economy that was still recovering from the pandemic and made it much worse. The most unpopular president in polling history during his first term has pursued policies that the majority of the country never wanted and that are wildly unpopular.

Throw in the fact that Trump has tanked the economy while killing Americans on the streets, and the political environment is dire for Republicans who are running for election this November.
Never has a party tried to survive and keep its congressional majorities with a president as unpopular as Donald Trump.
Republicans need a winning message, not only to rally their own voters, but to convince the rest of the country to support them.
Unfortunately, they seem to be going with this.
