Donald Trump currently has a net positive approval rating in just 9 of 50 states. For Republicans who were hoping that Trump would both open up his checkbook and hit the road to rally their voters, this leaves very few places where the president might be helpful.

Last month, the White House used friendly reporter Peter Doocy to spread a story that Trump was planning a national campaign tour to help his party in the midterms that would involve daily rallies.
The idea that the 80 year old president who falls asleep in the Oval Office in the middle of the day while television cameras are filming him would have the energy or stamina to campaign for a month was laughable.
Then Trump made it clear he didn’t care about the midterms and they didn’t matter to him, so the odds that the president would do any serious campaigning dropped.
The hammer fell when Trump’s initial rally schedule came out, and it showed that he was only scheduled to visit deep red states where he is still popular. Trump went to the Tennessee/Texas college football game last weekend and got a very mixed reaction in Tennessee, but that was better than when Trump showed up at the Presidents Cup golf tournament outside of Chicago and was called a pedo.
Trump’s big tour has gotten even smaller.
