Ohio Republican incumbent Sen. Jon Husted looks to be trailing his Democratic challenger, former Sen. Sherrod Brown.
In hindsight, one of the biggest victories that Sen. Chuck Schumer got, besides convincing former Gov. Roy Cooper to run for Senate in North Carolina, was convincing Sen. Sherrod Brown, who lost his reelection bid in 2024, to run again in 2026.

Schumer couldn’t have fully known the mess that Trump would make of the economy, or that the popular Brown’s blue-collar Democratic message would be the perfect fit for the current election and economic climate, but a seat that Republicans came into the year thinking that they would not have to defend has become a massive problem.
Senate Republicans have no popular accomplishments to campaign on and have done less than nothing about inflation and affordability.
Having no other options, Republicans are sending Trump to red states where he won by double digits to try to turn the midterm election into a low-turnout base election rock fight.
The problem has been that Trump’s message to angry voters is to threaten them into voting Republican or else.
Earlier this week, Trump threatened voters in Alaska with higher fuel prices unless they vote Republican, and he issued a different threat to voters during his Ohio rally.
