Donald Trump can’t change the name of a body of water for the entire world. Trump doesn’t have the power to rename lakes, gulfs, and oceans.

Canada owns the lakebed rights to the Canadian side of Lake Ontario, but nobody — not Trump, not Ontario Premier Doug Ford, not Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney — owns the naming rights to “Lake Ontario.”
“The Americans can call it whatever they want to call it,” Canadian maritime attorney Marc Isaacs told NBC News. “It is Lake Ontario.”
Trump can sign an executive order changing the name of Lake Ontario, but it has no legal authority.
That didn’t stop the president from gathering reporters in the White House to say, “ I guess the purpose of this more than anything else is we're gonna be changing the name of Lake Ontario, effective immediately, to Lake America. That's going to take place right now as I sign the order.”
Even Trump seems to know that this whole show is a pointless waste of time, but since he loves living in his fantasy Apprentice character who makes imaginary things happen with orders, he was all aboard with changing the name of the lake, but reporters didn’t seem to be buying it.
