Joe Biden made cancer research a priority, so Trump has come into office and cut off funding for cancer research and clinical trials.
The Guardian noted, “Researchers on social media spoke about cancer research grinding to a halt as participants wait for experimental treatments and the effects the shutdown would have on universities and scientific advancement around the world.”
One of those researchers was Dr. Chrystal Starbird who posted on Bluesky, “My mother-in-law is literally about to start a treatment regimen including a very recently approved drug for late stage cancer discovered by someone I formerly collaborated with. This delay matters to people like her.”
The delay, according to the Trump administration is supposed to end on February 1, but researchers are warning such a long delay could be devastating for patients and future research.
