Trump Is Even Failing At Deportations As He Removes Fewer Immigrants Than Biden

Trump ran on an immediate mass deportation program, but he is currently removing less than half as many immigrants per week than Joe Biden.

Trump Mass Deportations Aren’t So Massive

Donald Trump claimed that Joe Biden was responsible for letting millions of immigrants into the United States illegally and he was going to immediately start a mass deportation program the likes of which the country had never seen.

Republicans were running around talking about “shock and awe,” which, given the history of the term, definitely wasn’t the best choice of words. If a politician is going to reference a war, they should pick a successful one.

The Washington Post gave an example of Trump's ICE operation in New York:

Under the cover of darkness, 20 teams of federal agents and officers in unmarked cars fanned out across the city Tuesday in one of the largest immigration operations in years.

Hours later, they returned to the New York headquarters of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with many of their targets in handcuffs, including a man wanted for homicide in a foreign country and another with possible terrorist links.

The Trump administration labeled it a success. The result? About 20 arrests.

The federal government spent your tax dollars deploying 20 teams of federal agents to arrest 20 people.

It is fair to ask if this is an efficient use of taxpayer money.

Everyone agrees that criminals should be off the streets, but despite all of the bluster, Trump hasn’t been as good as Biden was at deporting illegal immigrants.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) pointed out this fact in a post on X:

In the first week, Trump removed 7,300 people. On average, Biden was removing 15,000 a week. Under Biden 72% of ICE arrests were criminals. Under Trump it's dropped to around 50%. Trump is removing less people and less criminals. These guys are terrible at everything.
