Trump Is Cracking On The Government Shutdown And Lying About Negotiations With Democrats

A sure way to tell that the government shutdown is getting to Trump is that the president lied to reporters and claimed that he is engaged in healthcare negotiations with Democrats.

The current president doesn’t possess what they would have referred to in the olden days as a strong constitution.

He is a weak man who spends much of his time inflating himself in his own mind and thinking of ways to project the strength that he dreams of, but does not possess.

A government shutdown, when combined with this sort of person occupying the Oval Office, adds up to it only being a matter of time before Donald Trump cracks.

The chips in the tough guy facade began to show when Trump told reporters on Monday that his administration was engaged in negotiations with congressional Democrats on healthcare.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) quickly responded to Trump in a statement:

Trump’s claim isn’t true — but if he’s finally ready to work with Democrats, we’ll be at the table.

For months, Democrats have been calling on Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans to come to the table and work with us to deliver lower costs and better healthcare for the American people.

If President Trump and Republicans are finally ready to sit down and get something done on healthcare for American families, Democrats will be there — ready to make it happen.

Trump is back to promising America great healthcare. The only thing missing in his remarks was a promise to reveal his healthcare plan in two weeks.

Trump also claimed that Obamacare subsidies were a waste, and that he could make a deal with Democrats that would “fix” Obamacare.

The president is back to lying about healthcare and negotiations because he has seen the polls that blame him for the government shutdown, and he knows that the current Republican position is not sustainable.

Democrats have handled this shutdown really well by letting Republicans fall into their own trap that they created when they ended the Obamacare subsidies.

With each passing day, two things happen. Trump doesn’t follow through on his threat to fire federal workers, and the pressure grows on him to make a deal.

Democrats have given Trump one exit ramp, and that is to restore the subsidies.

There have been no other options offered.

Donald Trump looks ready to cave, and he seems to be trying to set the stage to get none of the blame when Democrats get the subsidies restored.
