Trump is reeling as the backfires mount in his defamation lawsuit against the BBC, as the president's lawyers filed a desperate request to prevent the broadcaster from getting his financial records.
Donald Trump has dug himself a deep hole. The president filed a defamation lawsuit against the BBC after the British broadcaster used some footage of him during his speech on 1/6. The president claimed that he was defamed by the documentary and followed the path that had worked so well against CBS and ABC.

Trump filed a defamation suit that alleges that he suffered billions of dollars in damages. However, Trump left the door wide open by claiming that his businesses suffered financial damage.
The lawsuit has entered the discovery process, and so far the BBC has requested Trump’s personal phone records. The BBC also wants Trump’s personal text messages, and Trump, his family, and his trust’s business records.
Trump’s claim is that he had nothing to do with the 1/6 attack, and that anyone who claims otherwise is engaged in defamation.
A judge agreed with the BBC and ordered Trump to turn over his personal business records, which are being held in a trust administered by his son, Donald Trump Jr.
Trump is panicking, and with the deadline approaching, Trump’s lawyers filed a motion to block the BBC from getting the president’s financial records.
