Donald Trump is back to complaining about elections being rigged. He specifically mentioned California, which is a signal that Trump knows that his party is about to be hammered.

Donald Trump spent the fall of 2020 poisoning the well. Trump started claiming that the 2020 election was rigged months before election day.

Trump said in August 2020, “The only way we’re going to lose this election is if the election is rigged.”

The election wasn’t rigged, but Donald Trump knew that he was going to lose, so he spread the rigged election narrative because being rejected by the voters would trash his fake brand of being a winner.

As we head into the first midterm of Trump’s second non-consecutive term in the White House, we should look back at Trump’s claim in 2018 when said that election, which was a strong rebuke of his first term was rigged, “Law Enforcement has been strongly notified to watch closely for any ILLEGAL VOTING which may take place in Tuesday’s Election (or Early Voting). Anyone caught will be subject to the Maximum Criminal Penalties allowed by law,”

2018 is important because that is the election when Donald Trump started proclaiming that elections were rigged before election day.
