Trump And Hegseth Lose Big On Their Trans Military Ban
It isn't just the economy that is falling apart under Trump. The Trump culture war policies suffered a fresh defeat as a federal appeals court ruled against Trump and Hegseth's trans military ban.
With the economy in the dumpster, Trump and Republicans are counting on culture war issues to bring them victory in the midterm election.
Republicans thought that they had found their golden ticket to endless electoral victory by demonizing trans persons during the 2024 election.
Trump has been trying to turn his rhetoric of hate into policy during his second administration.

One of those policies was an executive order removing trans persons from the military.
A federal appeals court ruled on Monday that the Trump/Hegeth policy is likely unconstitutional.
The majority wrote in a 2-1 decision:
The government contends that this case is solely about whether, pursuant to the Hegseth Policy, the military can disqualify persons from military service because they have gender dysphoria, a mental health condition.
But the record shows that the purpose of the Hegseth Policy is to target applicants and servicemembers who express what the Administration believes is a “false gender identity,” and the Policy goes far beyond disqualifying persons currently or recently suffering from gender dysphoria.
Some of those disqualifications are completely unexplained and have no reasonable justification.
