About That Office of Government Efficiency…

Donald Trump made it sound like Elon Musk would be given the power to take a chainsaw to the federal government and cut programs all over the place. Put aside for a second the reality that congressionally created agencies and programs can’t be eliminated and their funding can’t be cut by the president or any of his billionaire lackeys, and look at the reality of what is taking shape after the election.

First, Musk won’t be able to run anything himself. He will have to co-chair the government efficiency gimmick with Vivek Ramaswamy. Second, the department will be focused on eliminating regulations, not government programs.

The Executive Branch implements the law and interprets regulations.

It does not have the power to cut budge…
