Top House Republican Accidentally Makes The Argument For Why Democrats Must Control Congress
Rep. Mike Turner, who serves on the House Oversight and Armed Services Committees was trying to defend Trump's Iran war, but instead showed why Democrats need to run Congress.
The idea that Republicans in the House and Senate are a rubber stamp for Donald Trump has been brought up consistently since Trump returned to office. Republicans in both the House and Senate majorities have voluntarily surrendered their power to Donald Trump.

The idea of the surrender of constitutional power can mean different things to different people. It is not as if the Republican congressional majorities passed a bill giving their power to Trump or announced that the majorities in the Legislative Branch are going to kneel before the Executive Branch.
It is not an obvious concept because the US system of government is based on checks and balances, so what is happening now has never happened before.
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) gave the American people an eyeful of what it looks like when a majority decides to stop checking a president.
Turner was on Face The Nation and said, “Iran should not be permitted to control the straits. And it’s not just a United States issue.”
Host Margaret Brennan asked, “Did they mine it?”
Turner answered, “And Iran shouldn’t be permitted to just decide who gets through, and Europe, our NATO allies, others who have certainly an interest in the straits, should be coming to the table. And it should not just be a U.S. issue. And the president, by saying we’re not just gonna let them decide who gets through, is certainly calling all of our allies and everyone to the table of this needs to be addressed.”
Why didn’t Turner answer the question? The answer he did provide showed why Republicans should not be in charge of Congress.
