There has been the idea out there in the media for months that Donald Trump has not been hurt by the court cases against him. Cable news types look at the Republican presidential primary polls and say these criminal charges are having no impact on the 2024 presidential race.
The general election polls don’t even ask about Trump’s 91 felony charges, and instead treat the multi-jurisdiction criminal defendant as a normal candidate running in a normal election. Pollsters also frame the election as a referendum on Joe Biden and pretend like Trump’s court cases exist in another dimension that won’t impact the 2024 election.
