“Absolutely no one is wondering about the possibility of unmarked cars from the FBI rolling into the White House driveway.”

Making America great again? Not exactly.

Donald Trump and his Republican Party’s actions have caused the U.S. to be seen as a weakened country after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest in relation to the Epstein files, with British commentators noting that Donald Trump has captured the U.S. Department of Justice and major media outlets, resulting in protecting the U.S. president from scrutiny or potential charges related to the Epstein files releases.

“Well, I think it is a pretty extraordinary moment. I mean, when a country with an unwritten constitution that does everything, sort of by custom and practice and tradition teaches a lesson about accountability for alleged activities to a country that has a much vaunted Constitutional written down in black and white that is supposed to contain all of the necessary checks and balances to keep a democracy ticking over,” Simon Marks said on LBC Thursday morning.

“That’s quite a moment here today, and you absolutely are right to make that point about the news from South Korea as well, because when I woke up this morning, a first glance the New York Times News flash about South Korea was just ahead of the news flash about the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, and yet, down at the White House there over the corn flakes and the bacon and eggs this morning, absolutely no one is wondering about the possibility of unmarked cars from the FBI rolling into the White House driveway, so that the President of the United States, or any figures within his inner circle and entourage might find themselves helping police here with their inquiries.”

Watch here:

The US looks weakened and hypocritical because other countries are seen as holding the powerful to account, while the U.S. fails to enforce accountability over Epstein‑related allegations.

The DOJ and media are portrayed as compromised, checks and balances eroded, and the country appears to be sliding from Constitutional norms, making the U.S. appear less credible and less able to investigate powerful figures, according to the British commentators. And it’s difficult to argue with this assessment.
