Senate Democrats Are Not Impressed With Some Of Trump’s Cabinet Picks
Here is how you can tell when a meeting did not go well. The top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), met with Trump’s choice to be the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth. The meeting between the two lasted a little more than twenty minutes.
Sen. Reed put out a statement on the meeting saying, “Today’s meeting did not relieve my concerns about Mr. Hegseth’s lack of qualifications and raised more questions than answers. As with any nominee for this critical position, Mr. Hegseth must undergo the same high-level of scrutiny as prior Secretary of Defense nominees.”
Yikes.
Reed didn’t say that they had a productive or constructive conversation. He didn’t say that they disagreed on some matters. Hegseth made things worse for himself. When a senator says a meeting raised more questions than answers, it means the meeting was a disaster.
That is pretty bad, but everyone had Hegseth, who is accused of being a sexual predator, as potentially the next nominee to fall.
The hits were just starting as Senate Judiciary Committee top Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin met with Trump’s Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi and came away unimpressed.
Durbin posted on X, “I just met with Pam Bondi, Donald Trump’s attorney general pick. Given her responses to my questions, I remain concerned about her ability to serve as an Attorney General who will put her oath to the Constitution ahead of her fealty to Donald Trump.”
Durbin also issued a statement about his meeting with Bondi, where he said that he brought up her record of leading Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election and her opposition to civil rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ rights.
There will be some Trump nominees who will fly through the confirmation process. The one that comes immediately to mind is Sen. Marco Rubio to be Trump’s Secretary of State.
However, many of them, like Hegseth, Bondi, and RFK Jr, could face tough confirmation fights, and the idea that Senate Democrats are going to sit back and allow Trump to have whoever he wants was a fantasy that is definitely not going to happen.[
There will be a ton of pressure on the few moderate Republicans remaining in the Senate to either support Trump’s extremist,[ unqualified choices or break with the White House.
Hegseth remains the most likely nominee to go down, and it would be bizarre if more than one nominee failed to be confirmed by the Senate, which the incoming president’s party controls.
Trump and the Republicans did not want to see the early part of his term tied up with confirmation fights, but with Democrats gearing up, it looks like Trump’s nominees are about to hit some rough waters.

Leak the fucking report NOW! I paid for it and I want to see it.
I just hope the Dems stand their ground. We can’t afford to have any Dems allow unqualified people to be put in these positions. The Heritage Foundation will do everything they can to make Project 2025 happen.
