Kamala Harris Campaigns In Pennsylvania
It all started when Kamala Harris arrived in Johnstown, PA a formerly thriving steel town that seen more than its share of tough times since the 1980s. Johnstown is the kind of place that has had to scrap and be resilient like so much of central and western Pennsylvania for decades. Joe Biden won Johnstown in 2020 by 80 votes. Trump won it by a similar margin in 2016.
After leaving the airport, where she was met by hundreds of supporters chanting “We’re not going back,” the Vice President was taken to her next stop, which the VP’s pool reporter who was from the New York Times described as, “After a roughly 15 minute drive through thickly forested hills, the motorcade arrived at Classic Elements, a gift shop, bookstore and cafe in Johnstown, which sits in a heavily Republican area.”
In western and central PA what the NYT reporter described as thickly forested hills would be laughed at by locals who would then take the poor reporter to see real hills, but it is clear that they were getting a taste of rural PA.
At the cafe, VP Harris met with a couple of dozen voters and talked about the importance of small businesses.
Harris’s presence in the cafe was huge and did not go unnoticed to rural Democrats in that part of the state, because the message was clear, Kamala Harris is going to turn out every Democratic vote, no matter how red the area is in Pennsylvania.
Trump won Cambria County, where Johnstown is located, 68%-30% over President Biden in 2020. The goal of Vice President Harris is to make sure that the margin does not grow for Trump in 2024.
After her stops in Johnstown it was off to Biden and Casey country for a rally in Northeastern PA at Wilkes Barre.
Wilkes Barre Rally Shows Something Is Brewing In PA For Kamala Harris
The Wilkes Barre rally featured another big crowd with really loud applause. One of the true signs of passion in an audience is when they are following every word of what their candidate says, as was the case in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
