As voters pin the declining economy on President Donald Trump, Trump supporters are increasingly blaming former President Joe Biden.
For years, Trump supporters have been accusing opponents and critics of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” rather than addressing the merits of the argument, but new polling shows that they are the people suffering from irrational TDS.
As voters pin the declining economy on President Donald Trump, Trump supporters are increasingly blaming former President Joe Biden.
Normally, voters would not blame the former president MORE in March than they did in February, but that’s where Republican voters are at these days, according to a Morning Consult poll:
It’s Trump’s Economy Now, Voters Say
More voters than not now say economic conditions are primarily due to Trump’s policies, not Biden’s
“President Donald Trump has tried to blame his predecessor, President Joe Biden, for any bad economic news — especially inflation. But as Trump hits the two-month mark of his term, that messaging has lost credibility with the bulk of the electorate.
In a reversal from last month, more voters than not now say current economic conditions are mostly the result of Trump’s policies instead of Biden’s.”
While normally this early into a new administration we would not pin the economy on the new president, Donald Trump has taken a deliberate wrecking ball to the really good (certainly relative to other industrialized nations post-pandemic) economy former President Joe Biden handed him on a silver platter.
The markets have responded with sickening plunges to Trump’s chaotic, vindictive style of “governing” and his erratic, punitive tariffs on our allies.
The American public are watching the social contract they’ve relied on their entire lives being plundered by Elon Musk’s DOGE on behalf of Donald Trump, seemingly so he can find cash to hand over to his donors and fellow oligarchs, as well as more money to reward Musk via government contracts for his $288 million campaign donation to Trump in 2024.
Quid pro quo is okay when Trump does it, apparently. Just like breaking laws is fine when Trump does it. Maybe it’s not even illegal for Trump to break laws in their minds.
