The Power of Mocking Wannabe Nazis
"For your own safety, DO NOT get between these guys and a deep dish pizza," one commenter wrote after a very unflattering photo of incoming troops was posted.
For anyone wondering, yes, mockery works on wannabe Nazis.
“For your own safety, DO NOT get between these guys and a deep dish pizza,” one commenter wrote after a very unflattering photo of incoming Texas National Guard troops to Illinois was posted by ABC News.
Now some of the those troops are already headed back home to Texas after brutal online mocking of their appearances raised questions about the Trump administration’s claims to having new fitness standards.
On X:
And on Reddit:
All of this after Hegseth announced so proudly that there were new fitness tests that might preclude women, as the fitness test must be passed at a gender-neutral standard set to the “highest male standard only”.

He claimed that height and weight requirements are also being strictly enforced.
And yet…
Overweight Texas National Guard troops sent home
The Texas Military Department said it removed an “unspecified number” of the troops it deployed to Chicago for failing to be “in compliance” with its validation process.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth did not address the viral photo and mocking, but did seem to confirm the reports of replacements by claiming “Standards are back at the Department of War.”
“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth showed support Monday for the replacement of a small group of Texas National Guard troops deployed in Illinois who did not meet fitness standards, after a photo of some troops sparked ridicule on social media following Hegseth’s comments to generals last month blasting the physical appearance of some soldiers,” Forbes reported. They noted that the National Guard didn’t mention the viral photos of some “Texas National Guard members that were mocked on social media for their heavyset appearance, though it is not clear if the members pictured were among the replaced.”
Fascists Are Obsessed with Appearances
It’s important to distinguish mocking people who are overweight from mocking people who are overweight while kidnapping people off the streets of the U.S.
Mocking over physical appearances is usually repugnant to most civilized people, but is very effective against a wannabe fascist regime, because they are selling you on and with appearances.
In reality, the Trump Department of War on American Citizens will take anyone they can get, and that has been made very obvious, as some of the online criticism included how these “troops” were holding their guns.
We’ve covered the wild incompetence of Trump’s federal agents, who often fail to identify themselves, but clearly consider themselves some kind of brownshirt to be deployed against anyone mildly critical of Donald Trump and or themselves. Over and over again, social media is set ablaze with video of these troops brutality, but also their completely clownery. The way they chase after someone on a bike because he mocked them. The way they almost shoot themselves because they haven’t been trained on how to properly holster their loaded gun. The way it takes six of them to try to “detain” one person. The way they shove and abuse women, children and the elderly, including American citizens. The way they aren’t going after criminals, but instead largely focused on anyone they can grab.
The incompetence is not giving “hand-to-hand combat every night” as Stephen Miller laughably claimed ICE officers are facing every night against protesters in Portland, where they often face off people… dressed as inflatable frogs.
This delusion of fitness is on par with Trump’s fumbled proclamation that they “took the freedom of speech away,” but appearances are everything to fascists.
Fascists are obsessed with appearances, and that is why Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tells people to laugh at them.
As I explained a few days ago, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is cosplaying a hot, armed, violent woman in long, fake extensions because she wants to be called “ICE Barbie.” ICE Barbie sells what ICE is doing to little girls who like Barbies, to men who want women to look like Barbie, and to women who want those men to find them hot.
