The Most Important Thing You Can Do Today Is Contact Your Senators
The most important thing you can do today is call your Senators to tell them not to confirm Russell Vought as director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Today is the last day to weigh in before the Wednesday hearing on Russell Vought, the pick to lead the Office of Management and Budget — and it’s the most important thing you can do today for our democracy.
The hearing will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 1 pm.
Why You Need To Get Involved?
Russell Vought not only was a co-architect of the Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for Trump’s second term, known as Project 2025, but he has said he believes a president can cut federal programs without Congress, even though Congress has the power of the purse.
Vought wants more control over the Department of Justice, which would break the tradition of presidents respecting the independence of the department. He also wants to get rid of/undermine protections for federal workers, which would likely lead to replacing them with political appointees. We saw some of this with George W. Bush, and the long-term damage of replacing career employees with political hacks can’t be overstated.
He believes in using the military against civilians in times of unrest. He also believes this specific president-elect should have powers we have never seen in an American president in our lifetimes.
His vision is anti-American, anti-freedom, and contrary to the Constitution.
