The Great Hunter Biden Hypocrisy
You knew it was coming. The moment that the news broke about Hunter Biden being indicted on federal gun charges, the media was certain to do two things. First, they went into Hunter Biden coverage overdrive. Second, they would determine that the charges were terrible news for Hunter’s father, President Joe Biden.
It has been going on for months now that the media has decided that Hunter Biden’s issues are a political problem for his father.
Cable news immediately went into how this would impact the Biden reelection campaign and ignored the fact that Hunter Biden is a private citizen who does not work in his father’s campaign or administration. Hunter Biden is not running for office, and most importantly polling has shown that a majority of the American people don’t care about Hunter Biden.
The media lectured the American people for decades that the children of the president were off-limits. Hunter Biden is an adult, but the media did not cover the activities of Donald Trump’s adult children with such zeal. The adult children of presidents of the past were not treated this way by the press.
Republicans have decided to make this one adult child of the current president the centerpiece of a debunked conspiracy, so the media has determined that Hunter Biden is “an issue” for the 2024 campaign that must be covered.
Jared Kushner’s taking $2 billion from the Saudis is not an issue. Nor is Ivanka Trump profiteering while working in the White House an issue that the media deems worthy of discussion, but Hunter Biden for the hypocritical reason of trying to create 2024 election drama deserves breaking news coverage.
