It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To The Fake Republican Primary Campaign
If you ever wondered what it would be like for cable news to cover an election night that had zero drama or intrigue, then Super Tuesday 2024 was for you. The big drama of the evening was whether or not Nikki Haley would win a state.
She did.
Nikki Haley won Vermont.
There was little drama anywhere.
President Biden steamrolled through all of his virtually uncontested contests.
Donald Trump showed that he is as weak as ever, as he was only able to run up the score in caucus states and the deepest of red areas.
The big development is the death of the fake Republican presidential primary.
Cable News had been propping up the fake Republican presidential primary for months. Everyone knew that none of these challengers had a snowball’s chance of beating Trump, but MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News pretended that they did because their election coverage model depends on a horserace, and if there was no competitive election, they would go through the motions and act like there was.
Nikki Haley’s campaign is officially over, which means that the Sunday shows will have to find another way to fill time.
The Republican presidential primary that never was is done, but fear not, because the media has already transitioned into buying Trump’s general election con.
