The media tried to run stories drumming up intrigue and drama around Pete Buttigieg and Kamala Harris. When California Gavin Newsome stepped up and started challenging Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a new round of speculation was launched.
A funny thing happened along the way to the media’s Biden is a one-termer narrative.
The red wave never arrived in 2022, and President Joe Biden was a big reason why. Biden campaigned in swing states, even though the media claimed he would hurt Democrats. The President used his bully pulpit to deliver primetime speeches about the MAGA threat to democracy, and the voters listened.
More importantly, the voters trusted President Joe Biden and his message.
The number of Democrats who wanted Biden to stick around and run for another term surged.
