Jury Selection Day Has Been Anything But Boring In The Hush Money Trial

Donald Trump has a legendary ability to take mundane and routine things and turn them into self-inflicted wounds that reveal his hubris and incompetence. If there was one consistent storyline that characterized his presidency, it was Trump’s inability to function like a normal human being and do the basics of the job without tripping over his own two feet and causing chaos in the nation.

Given that this is the space where Trump has resided as a political figure, it isn’t surprising that Defendant Trump could not make it through a single day or courtroom process without having major issues.

Trump, since he is used to getting away with everything, thought that he would call prosecution witnesses Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen “sleazeballs.”

It seems lost on Trump that he had an intimate encounter with Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen was his right-hand man for years and years, so if these are “sleazeballs” as he claimed, what does that say about Donald Trump?

Prosecutors responded immediately by calling for sanctions against Trump. Judge Merchan has scheduled a hearing for next week to determine whether Trump violated the gag order and what sanctions will be applied if he did.

Trump violating a gag order is pretty normal stuff, but what Trump also did in court was a much bigger issue.

Trump Fell Asleep In Court

Maggie Haberman of The New York Times told CNN, “He appeared to be asleep and repeatedly, his head would fall down. There have been other moments in other trials, like the E. Jean Carroll trial, which was around the corner in January, where he appeared very still, and it seemed as if he might be sleeping, but then he would move this time. He didn’t pay attention to a note that his lawyer Todd Blanche passed to him. His jaw kept falling on his chest, and his mouth kept going slack. Now, you know, sometimes people do fall asleep during court proceedings, but it’s notable given the intensity of this morning.”

Trump sleeping in court is devastating and will have lasting consequences that we will talk about below.
