Remember When People Thought That Democrats Were Unorganized?
There was an old political stereotype that Republicans were the uptight flag-waving party that had it all together, and it was the Democrats who could never get organized enough to win elections.
It is this old political chestnut that is the basis for the “Democrats in disarray narrative that big media loves so much.
The thing is that over the last 15 or so years, Democrats have been the more organized party. After George W. Bush finished his two terms in office by getting the US into two wars and trashing the economy, the Republican Party completely lost its way. It started in 2012 under Mitt Romney. A whole lot of Republicans complained about having Romney as the nominee. But the party never really wanted Romney. These were the Tea Party days, and Romney didn’t fit that mold, but Republicans would soon find someone who was willing to tell them what they wanted to hear in Donald Trump.
Trump also wanted to take over the Republican Party. Trump was never interested in unity or building an organization. Trump saw the GOP as an asset he could exploit for his own gain. Donald Trump doesn’t do party building, and one of the biggest differences between night three of each convention it is in organization and tone.
As Trump has stripped down the Republican Party for parts, Democrats have been building, and what you saw on night three was a party with a solid foundation and an airtight structure.
The Democratic structure is so solid that it could withstand an incumbent presidential nominee stepping down and being replaced by his vice president.
This solidness was repeatedly demonstrated during the third night of the Democratic convention. Instead of being unorganized, Democrats have been well-organized and have made the GOP look unprepared and in disarray.
