As discovery has progressed, the BBC got to the heart of the case and requested Trump’s personal communications records on 1/6.
The White House scrubbed Trump’s public transcripts and phone logs, but what the BBC was seeking were Trump’s personal phone records.

It is important to keep in mind that Trump instigated this whole process by filing a defamation suit against the BBC. Trump is suing the BBC over what he claims was video editing of footage used of him on 1/6.
The president thought that he could shake down the BBC just as he did with ABC and CBS for millions of dollars, but since Trump has no political power or a way to bully the BBC, the British broadcaster is fighting back in a way that many of America’s largest media corporations have been too afraid to try.
The BBC is using the legal process to investigate Trump, and when Trump got the DOJ involved, things took another turn.
