The American People Have Tuned Out Trump And Largely Ignored His National Address
It looks like Rep. Al Green was right. Trump doesn't have a mandate as polling showed that Democrats and Independents mostly tuned out his address to Congress and viewership was heavily Republican.

America Mostly Ignores Trump
Donald Trump knows that he is on shaky ground. There was no other reason for Trump to devote so much time early in his speech to false claims that he had a large mandate for his agenda from the voters.
Trump claimed:
The presidential election of November 5th was a mandate like has not been seen in many decades. We won all seven swing states, giving us an electoral college victory of 312 votes.
We won the popular vote. by big numbers and one counties in our country
and one counties in our country. 2, 700 to 525 on a map that reads almost completely read for Republican.

The CBS poll of speech viewers told a different story.
Trump’s speech was overwhelmingly approved of viewers by a margin of 76%-23%, which seems curious until you see who the viewers were.
The viewership for Trump’s speech was 51% Republican, 27% Independent, and 20% Democratic.
The audience for Trump’s speech was overwhelmingly his own supporters, but as we will see below that doesn’t mean that he got the same level of high marks.
Trump’s Audience Did Not Represent The Majority Of The Country
