Thanks, Trump: Health Insurance Premiums Will Go Up to $24,535 Some Couples Who Earn $85,000
Trump Republicans will increase your health insurance premium $17,310 (240%), from $7,225 to $24,535 annually as reward for your hard work of earning $85,000 as a couple in your fifties.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) pointed out that if Republicans do not change their attacks on Americans’ healthcare access, “the average fifty-five-year-old couple making $85,000 a year would see their premiums not just double, but triple to $25,000 a year.”

Schumer in floor remarks said that the majority of Americans support extending the premium tax credits for the ACA:
Seventy percent of Americans support extending the ACA premium tax credits, according to a poll released yesterday by the Washington Post. And another poll by KFF yesterday found nearly eighty percent support an extension.
And guess what? Even a majority of Trump supporters support an extension–nearly sixty percent.
You don’t need the polls. Just go into a barbershop. Just go into a diner. Just go into a supermarket and ask people.
If these ACA premium tax credits aren’t extended, the average fifty-five-year-old couple making $85,000 a year would see their premiums not just double, but triple to $25,000 a year.
What?!
That sounds insane, but it is actually a very real possibility, according to KKF.Org, mostly due to the expiring tax credits, but also due to insurance companies raising rates:
On average, a 55-year-old couple making $85,000 is currently receiving $13,567 in premium tax credits annually, covering 65% of the total cost of a benchmark plan. If the ePTCs expire, this couple would lose financial assistance and pay the full annual cost of $20,792, assuming premiums stay the same. However, if the gross premium grows at a rate of 18% into 2026, the 55-year-old couple can expect their net (out-of-pocket) premium payments to more than triple if ePTCs expire, increasing by $17,310 (240%), from $7,225 to $24,535 annually for the same plan.
So, the party that the media claims is for the middle and working class — the party that has been lecturing Americans to get off their bums and work for all of these years — is rewarding the hard work of a mid fifties couple by more than tripling their healthcare insurance costs.
They’re doing this WHILE their tariffs are making everyday expenses already out of reach for many, with working Americans having to choose between eggs and their prescriptions.
You can’t make this stuff up. Republicans will kill over 50,000 Americans every year by depriving the poor and working class of affordable health insurance, and they just don’t care. If they cared, they would not be lying about what they’re doing, denying the studies that show that 50,000 plus Americans will die if they continue on this path, and they would be addressing the actual problem.
Instead, they’re just telling different stories to the public to change the narrative, rather than changing the number of people who will die. This is the behavior of the Republican Party when they know everyone is watching and the majority do not not to die due to lack of healthcare.
After all of the death threats and the ruckus over Obamacare, it turns out Republicans are the party of Death Panels.
If you weren’t born lucky enough to be given an inheritance, you can just die. So much for their “work hard” mantra.

Making 84k a year/2 incomes in 4 family home is slumming it already. (Spkg for a friend)
Not making even close to that much money annually. But my premium has gone up 2000% anyway.
