Susan Collins Is In Deep Trouble In Maine

It seems that Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) made a potentially fatal mistake for her career when she cozied up to Trump, and Maine voters are tired of her "concern."

For decades, Democrats have been trying to defeat and unseat Sen. Susan Collins in Maine, but each time Democrats have seemed close to victory, Collins has managed to survive and keep her seat.

Sen. Collins has never faced an election that is as bad for Republicans as 2026 is shaping up to be. The economy is bad, inflation has surged back under Trump, there is an unpopular war in Iran. ICE is running an immigration operation that is both unpopular and killing people, including in Maine.

Republicans who are running in 2026 are facing political hurricane-strength winds blowing against them.

Years ago, Susan Collins made the decision that she was going to sound moderate but cozy up to Donald Trump. Collins is being rewarded with hundreds of millions of dollars in Republican ad spending to try to help her keep her seat, but a new Pine Tree State Poll from the University of New Hampshire reveals that Collins has never been more beatable.

The Pine Tree State Poll found that Sen. Collins is unpopular:

35% of Mainers have a favorable opinion of her, 53% have an unfavorable opinion, 12% are neutral, and less than 1% don't know enough about her to say. Collins's net favorability rating is -18. Collins is quite popular among Republicans (+73), but is unpopular among Independents (-28) and very unpopular among Democrats (-84).

Democrat Troy Jackson fares much better than Collins with the state’s voters, but it is her job performance that has the long-time incumbent in jeopardy.
