The heat on Speaker Mike Johnson is everywhere. The Speaker has run out of excuses, for he plans to keep the House shut down as millions of people face the potential loss of their health insurance due to skyrocketing premiums after Republicans passed and Trump signed into law the removal of the Obamacare subsidies.

Johnson’s plan was to keep the House closed in order to pressure Senate Democrats to vote for his continuing resolution that would result in the deaths of 50,000 Americans per year because they would no longer be able to afford to see a doctor.

The White House put its plan to punish Democrats into motion by firing thousands of federal workers over the weekend, but the response from Democrats has been a collective shrug because Trump has been firing federal workers since he returned to office.

The Republicans have no unity or strategy to handle the shutdown that they caused, which has left Johnson looking like what he is. A Speaker who caused a government shutdown, then closed down the House, and has no plan to get out of the mess that he caused.

Johnson went on what should have been the friendly Fox News Sunday show, but was hit with this question by Shannon Bream, “ What about his issue though, that open enrollment starts in November? People are already getting notices about what they may pay. I mean, that’s something that’s gotta be resolved before December 1st.”

Bream’s question highlighted the fact that the pressure is on Republicans to come up with an answer, but read below for how Johnson responded.
