Trump’s border czar Tom Homan tried to walk back his comments on Fox News that ICE is racially profiling in their immigration raids.
Video of Homan:
Sen. Alex Padilla reacted to Homan on CNN and blasted the administration.
Padilla said in reaction to Homan:
Well, it wouldn't be the first time the Trump administration tries to just dismiss a court order. And so it's our job to ensure that we uphold the law, uphold the Constitution.
I mean, Homan has said it very clearly in other interviews. They're not even asking for significant findings to detain people. They're going based on appearance, his words, not mine, based on occupation, his words, not mine. Based on accents, physical appearance?
Then what if I was outside a Home Depot because I like to do some work around the house, not dressed in a suit? Would I be a target of ICE enforcement under Tom Homan? Probably. And it's just wrong. It's not just due process rights that have become the concern, but racial profiling.
When federal agents involved in immigration enforcement are using racial profiling, they're not enforcing the law. They are breaking it.
Video of Padilla:
The Trump administration is breaking the law, and more members of Congress need to be like Padilla and call it what it is.
The Trump administration is racially profiling to find immigrants to deport. Remember, Trump promised that he was only going to deport immigrants who committed crimes, but that quickly became ICE being unable to hit the quotas that Trump and Stephen Miller put on them of 3,000 deportations a day, so they started racially profiling to deport as many immigrants as they could.
It can’t be said enough. What the Trump administration is doing is illegal. The American people should be paying more attention to what is happening to immigrants who are vital to the country and economy.
Sen. Padilla has been an outspoken critic of the administration’s actions in California and around the country. Padilla also has legislation with Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ to unmask ICE.
Padilla has stood up to Kristi Noem and the administration, and he paid for it by getting assaulted.
Alex Padilla continues to speak out and show the kind of leadership that America needs.

Thank-you Senator Padilla for your ongoing support & fight for those who are unable to live their lives without constant fear. I pray that all these illegal actions by the Trump administration will be fought in the court room & the immigrants who just want a simple life here in America ..WIN 💞
