There is no way that Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) should need to defend his actions when he tried to ask Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem a question and was assaulted and handcuffed by federal law enforcement, but that is exactly what many in the mainstream media have forced Padilla to do.

Video:

Sen. Padilla said that he was escorted into the room by law enforcement, and asked why the Homeland Secretary would not a top senator on the immigration subcommittee, “I was escorted into that room by a National Guardsman and an FBI agent. Look, the whole Los Angeles press court -- this is Los Angeles. This is my hometown. They know who I was. vAnd what does it say about the secretary to not know who the senator from California is, the ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration?”

Padilla explained:

I was escorted during my entire time in that building, from showing up in the building, going through security screening, escorted by an FBI agent and a National Guard member to the conference room where I was awaiting a briefing.

They're the ones I requested, well, if we're waiting, can we go listen in at the press conference?

They escorted me over to the press conference. They opened the door for me, and they stood next to me while I was listening for the entire time and then, of course, once I was forcibly removed and handcuffed.

Padilla destroyed the premise that the Trump administration laid out that security didn’t know who he was by telling the story in detail of how he got into the press conference.

Supposedly, the security who didn’t know who Padilla was escorted him into the press conference.

Sen. Padilla has shown considerable restraint in the way he has handled his response to the Trump administration, or calling for Kristi Noem to resign.

However, when Padilla was asked if he agreed with Democrats that Noem should resign, he raised some very important questions.
