It became very obvious very quickly why Republicans on the House Oversight Committee had not called Lev Paranas to testify previously.

Parnas was Giuliani’s right-hand man in the plot to dig up/manufacture dirt about Joe and Hunter Biden. While Parnas testified that Giuliani’s efforts were at Donald Trump's direct request, it was who Parnas labeled as part of the plot who should get more attention.
