The Rudy Problem That Could Turn Biden Impeachment Against Republicans

House Oversight Committee ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has consistently made two points about the House Republican Hunter Biden investigation.

Raskin has pointed out that Republicans have uncovered no evidence that President Biden did anything wrong.

Raskin’s second point is that the allegations that House Republicans are using as the basis of their investigations are based on Russian disinformation.

Rep. Raskin said in May 2023, “Committee Republicans are recycling unsubstantiated claims floated by Senate Republicans by issuing a subpoena to the FBI to require the release of a June 2020 tip from an unknown informant. During this same time period, Rudy Giuliani and Russian agents, sanctioned by Trump’s Treasury Department, were peddling disinformation aimed at interfering in the 2020 presidential election. Given Chair Comer’s commitment to ‘dismantle’ the FBI, it’s no surprise that he would rely on these unverified tips to attack President Biden in one more baseless partisan stunt.”

House Democrats have offered up evidence that Republicans refuse to acknowledge because it does not fit their impeachment narrative.

All in all the evidence-free push to impeach President Biden hasn’t gone well for Republicans. The mainstream media has rightly treated the Biden bribery claims with skepticism, and the House GOP efforts to smear Biden with the impeachment brush have not broken through.

As long as Republicans were dealing in the realm of conspiracy, they could still appeal to their base and draw the false equivalence between Biden and Trump, but then along came Rudy Giuliani back into the picture.
