‘Resounding Victory’ for Afroman as Sheriff's Deputies Lawsuit Backfires
Rapper Afroman's 'resounding victory' against the sheriff deputies who warned that a higher power was on their side is a victory for free speech.
We can all use a reminder of justice, so here is the story of Afroman’s resounding victory as the Ohio sheriff’s deputies lawsuit against him backfired bigly.
Free speech wins!
Afroman’s victory against Ohio sheriff deputies who sued him for defamation and false light invasion of privacy over his rap music is a classic case of overreach and abuse of the system backfiring.

It was a ‘resounding victory’ for Afroman, according to independent legal journalist Meghann Cuniff, who noted this victory was “much to the dismay and despair of these sheriff’s deputies, whose lawyer actually told the jury that he thought they sent by a higher power” to send a message to Afroman.
Yes, law enforcement’s lawyer argued that a higher power was on the side of the sheriff’s deputies in the United States of America.
“And now keep in mind that this is much to the dismay and in despair, maybe even of the sheriff’s deputies, whose lawyer actually told the jury that he thought they were sent by a higher power.”
Their lawyer argued that the jury needed to stop Afroman, warning bad things could happen if the defense prevailed. But the jury still found for the defense.
“The jury was to send a message to Afroman that he needs to stop this, and he said the deputies have suffered terribly, and he asked, actually asked for almost $4 million to be awarded, and warned of what could happen if there’s a defense verdict, said that it’s just going to make things worse for them,” Cuniff said.
Afroman will now be emboldened even further to continue his art and any diss tracks he feels like making.
“So I’m just imagining the sheriff’s deputies sitting there thinking hearing their lawyer talk about how horrible it’s going to be when they lose and then they lose. So I think moving forward, what the path forward looks like is a little tough for them, but I think to say emboldened is probably the right word for Afroman here, and he felt really under attack here and unfairly attacked. So to have this verdict is a huge victory for him, and I don’t expect he’s going to let up on that many times soon.”
Afroman, who wore a red, white and blue flag suit to court, viewed the case as a win for freedom of speech.
Afroman said this was a victory for America.
